Direction (Q. 1) : In each of the following questions, a question is asked followed by three statements. You have to study the question and all the three statements given and decide whether any information provided in the statements) is/are redundant and can be dispensed with while answering the questions.

How many sons and daughters does Amod have ?
A) Amod's wife says she has number of sons twice the number of daughters.
B) Tom, who is one of the sons of Amod, says that he has one-and-a-half times as many brothers as sisters.
C) Tinu, who is one of the daughters of Amod, says that she has 4 times as many brothers as sisters.

Where B = no. of brothers; S = no. of sisters we have three different equations. Hence any two of them will be sufficient. Obviously, any one of them is redundant.

In a row of 26 boys, Ramesh is at 7th position from the left. When Ramesh's master blew a whistle the persons at the positions first and second, third and fourth, fifth and sixth, .............and so on interchanged their places. Now when Ramesh's master blew the whistle again positions of each group of eight consecutive persons becomes reversed while 25th and 26th persons do not change their places.
After these two operations, Ramesh is at _ _ _ _ _ _ _ positions from the left in the same row.

W O M A N I Z E R - When written one place of forward - X P N B O J A F S - Now put all odd-positioned letters first and then the even-positioned ones - XNOASPBJF. similarly, VITRIOLIC is written as WUJMDJSPJ

One day Dipti was coming from college. Her brother Ramesh, who was coming towards her from opposite direction, saw that Dipti's shadow fell neither to his right nor to his left nor to the back of Dipti. From which direction was Ramesh coming ?

If in English alphabet all the letters at odd-numbered positions are sequentially replaced by even numbers, viz 'A' is replaced by 2, 'C' by 4, and so on, and likewise all letters at even-numbered positions are replaced by odd numbers, viz 'B' is replaced by 1, 'D' by ' 3 ' , and so on, then what will be the total value of the word NOTWITHSTANDING ?

Direction (Q. 6 - 10) : The second figure in the first unit of the problem figures bears a certain relationship to the first figure. Similarly, one of the figures in the answer figures bears the same relationship to the first figure in the second unit of the problem figures. You are therefore to locate the figure which would replace the question mark.

From fig. I to II: The upper-left element goes down and becomes the outer figure. The upper-right element goes down and becomes the inner figure. The outer of the lower figure goes to upper-right and the inner of the lower figure goes to upper-left while the inner of the upper-right remains in its own position.

From fig. I to II: The outermost figure becomes the innermost and gets shaded. The middle figure becomes the outermost and the innermost figure comes in the middle. The corner elements change sides.
